Haegerstrands has a long history in shipping, it was founded in 1859 by city broker and ship owner Per Johan Haegerstrand.
The company has been owned by the family Engwall since 1988 as part of AB Hoppet company group.

AB Hoppet also includes Ship Brokerage Firm Ivar Lundh & Co in Stockholm under the leadership of Jacob Engwall.
